Latest Updates from Our Project:

Pre-production is Underway!
almost 9 years ago – Wed, Jul 01, 2015 at 01:12:23 PM

Hello everyone!

We've been hard at work for the past few months and everything appears to be coming together to shoot our Room Actors Mockumentary web series in August and early September!

I've scheduled a table read for the new script for July 19th, the Room actors are confirmed and we're ready to get this longer and much funnier project off the ground!

I want to introduce a few key people who are helping to make this project a reality. I have 2 new awesome, incredible, smart, funny and nice (nice is underrated - but it means a lot) producers. They are:

HUNTER PHILLIPS and BRIAN FAGAN. I thought it'd be fun to all caps their names for no apparent reason! Here are their bios:

Hunter Phillips (producer) graduated from UCLA's MFA screenwriting program and has worked in the entertainment industry as a writer, director, producer and editor. Phillips’ comedy pilot GYMRATZ, which she wrote, directed, edited and produced, was an official selection in the New York Television Festival. The ensemble features a cast of actors who have worked on Reno 911!, Me, Myself & Irene, Austin Powers, Community, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Desperate Housewives. The GYMRATZ teaser was selected for the FunnyorDie homepage, earning a 91% Funny rating. Philips was awarded the Dini Ostrov Screenwriting award and the Harmony gold Award for Excellence in Screenwriting at UCLA. Her feature comedy JC was a finalist at The Austin Film Festival while her comedy Personal Trainer was an Austin Film Festival semifinalist. Her indie feature On The Verge was a Nicholl semifinalist. Phillips is repped by Spencer Baumgarten and Rob Herting at CAA.

Brian Fagan (producer) As Associate Director of the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television's Professional Programs, Brian co-created graduate level programs in Writing for Television, Acting for the Camera, and Video Game Development and taught one hour pilot TV drama. While earning his MFA in Screenwriting from UCLA, Brian worked for Touchstone Television Drama and (Tobey) Maguire Productions before becoming a Creative Assistant for screenwriter and producer Ed Solomon. Brian was the researcher for A Gifted Man at CBS and for 74 episodes of LAW & ORDER: SVU for NBC Universal where he wrote the highly rated episode "Possessed." As a Screenwriting Instructor for The Screenwriters Group, and as a Creative Executive and Story Analyst at various management and production companies, Brian gave development notes on over 1000 screenplays. The 35mm short romantic comedy film he wrote and directed, "Yes or Know," was picked up for distribution by HBO. Before moving to LA, Brian wrote and directed plays and late night serials in NYC and Chicago.

Here's some more news: A great guy named Jason Cuadrado reached out to me about a month ago. He is a writer/director here in LA known for his horror projects. And get this, he created the original Tommy Wiseau bobble-head doll! He had the idea like 8 years ago, contacted Tommy and it went from there. Apparently, there are prototypes for bobble-head dolls for all of The Room actors. He also launched The Room fan club years ago and runs this site: www.theroomfansite.com. Check it out for the latest Room news!

Over the years, Jason has gotten busy with other thing like directing big movies with fan followings (what, he didn't want to build his ENTIRE life around The Room?). Check out his website here: www.jasoncuadrado.com. On top of being a cool and successful person, Jason is like the nicest guy I have ever met. Long story short, he offered to help me set up my website for the project. The site is currently under development, but it will be active in a few weeks. Check out: www.theroommockumentary.com. This is where I will be posting our production blog.

You, as Kickstarter donors, will also get insider information that I will post ONLY here in the form of Room actor video clips, interviews, and extra behind the scenes information. (Sorry, did that sound like an infomercial? Guess I'm just excited!)

I can't wait to share stills (and video) of our table read on July 19th. Stay tuned for more information as we entrench ourselves in pre-production. It's happening!

THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT!

The Room Actors: Where Are They Now? -- Expanded to Web Series!
about 9 years ago – Thu, Mar 26, 2015 at 10:25:03 AM

Hello Everyone,

Sorry for the long overdue update! I've been in a cave working on The Room Actors: Where Are They Now? script and I have a some great news! After the success of the campaign, I decided that you guys deserved more than a 15 minute short about The Room actors. Even though we didn't quite hit our web series goal of 35K, we got very close. So I decided to expand the project and turn it into a web series!

Over the past few months, I've been working on the script for the expanded project. I turned my original short film script into a pilot, introducing all of The Room actors. Each episode after the pilot will feature one of the actors from The Room stumbling through life and the series finale will bring everyone together again. It's an 8-episode fun, comedic ride that you're going to love!

We're doing a table read for the new, expanded script soon and I will post pictures and short video clips so you can see what we are up to! Over the next month, I'll be pulling together additional members of our team so that we can hit the ground running and start filming the series shortly. As such, I'll be posting job openings here and on the FB page. If you know of qualified, highly experienced people who love The Room, live in LA and would like to be involved, please let me know.

The updates will start coming fast and furious once we begin pre-production!  Please stay tuned. Thank you so much for your support. We (The Room actors) can't wait to share this project with you!!

Happy New Year!
over 9 years ago – Sun, Jan 04, 2015 at 05:22:24 AM

Hey everyone,

I wanted to wish you all a Happy New Year! I hope your 2014 was amazing and your 2015 is even better.

I've been laying low over the holidays, rewriting and tweaking the script for "The Room Actors: Where Are The Now?" As you may remember, Greg Ellery jumped on board after we launched the campaign and Dan Janjigian jumped on board back in July. So I've incorporated both of those awesome guys into the script.

In January, we are having another story meeting and I will post pictures from that meeting soon! We'll start the blog going about the making of the mockumentary in February, once we start location scouting and heavy pre-production.

Thank you all so much for your support! Please keep spreading the word to your friends about our project. And if you meet someone who wants a t-shirt, a DVD, a poster or just wants to pitch in and offer support for the project, please send them to our page on Backerkit.

I hope your holidays were relaxing and peaceful and you are ready to make 2015 your best year yet!

My new year's resolutions include exercising daily and eating more vegetables. So far, I've done it for 2 days. Only 363 more to go! Yah.

Thanks again guys and I'll send another update soon!

Hey Everyone,

I wanted to thank all of you for your support over the course of the campaign. Thanks to all of you amazing people, we raised at total of $31,556!!! This is a healthy budget for our project and we're excited to get started on the hard work of making this film and getting it ready to show to YOU!!

As promised, when we start pre-production on the film, all backers will be getting regular behind the scenes updates on the project - photos, videos and all kinds of fun information about the progress we are making on "The Room Actors: Where Are They Now? A Mockumentary."

Within a few months, you will be receiving a survey from us asking about the rewards that you ordered, your address, size for the t-shirt, etc. We are partnering with a great company called Backerkit to help us conduct the surveys and organize the process of getting you all the awesome rewards you selected.

If you decide you would like to add something to your order (a t-shirt, extra DVD, poster, etc.) or if you have a friend who wanted to help us out but didn't get a chance, you can still back the campaign/order more paraphernalia by visiting this site: Backer Kit - The Room Mock.

Most of our rewards are already listed on this site, but I will be adding a few more in several days.

Thank you again for your incredible support. This project is happening because of YOU!!!

Have a great Thanksgiving next week or if you don't live in the USA, good luck getting started on your holiday shopping early. (We start ridiculously early here).

Thanks so much! I'll be sending another update soon!

Love, Robyn and The Room Actors
